IThe Estate

Built in 1844,
kept for gathering.

There is a particular quality to a house this old — the proportion of the rooms, the depth of the window sills, the way afternoon light crosses original floors. The main house was built for a village doctor in 1844 and has been kept, ever since, for being together: a long table, deep porches, a lawn that runs to the pool, and a carriage house alongside for the overflow.

We are not a hotel. This is our family's house in the village, and it books like one — on Airbnb, with us a text away.

IVThe Village & the Valley
West Bridge Street, the house behind its hedge
West Bridge Street · every walk starts here

Walk up Bridge Street
and you'll meet Main.

Take a right and you'll pass two blocks of shops and restaurants; midway down, Partition Street slopes toward the Esopus, Diamond Mills, and the big red bridge. Dinner above the waterfall is a five-minute walk. The lighthouse is across town. The Catskill high peaks start twenty minutes west.

We keep an honest, opinionated guide to all of it — where to eat, which trails earn the drive, and the house's own long story.

Rebuilding the pool

In 2024 we tore the old pool apart and did it properly — new hardscaping, dark water, bluestone underfoot, and a heater strong enough to be dangerous. The story of the biggest project we've taken on here.

The middle yard, the cedar tub, and a great many plants

The stretch between the patio and the pool used to be the part of the yard you walked through to get somewhere else. Then came a cedar hot tub on a gravel pad, a very long plant list, and a 2024 that changed the whole back of the property.
