The 1844 House — Greek Revival main house with white columns, Saugerties NY

The House

Built in 1844, kept for gathering.

There's a particular quality to a house this old — the proportion of the rooms, the depth of the window sills, the way light moves across original floors. A Greek Revival of white columns and tall windows, the main house has been kept for being together: generous rooms, a kitchen and a long table made for a crowd, and a deep front porch for the in-between hours.

Bring the family, bring friends, bring a stack of books and nowhere particular to be.

The Space

Room to spread out

Four bedrooms, four baths

Sleeps twelve: a primary with a king, dressing room, and en-suite bath with a heated floor; a queen room and a twin room sharing the hall bath; and a fourth bedroom — a queen with its own en-suite — above the den. Two sleeper sofas take the overflow.

A kitchen for a crowd

Freshly renovated and fully equipped — gas range, dishwasher, breakfast bar — with a family room alongside and a dining table that seats eight, looking over the back patio.

The grounds

A heated pool (completely redone in 2024), a six-person cedar hot tub, a stone patio with a gas grill, and a huge lawn behind the gardens — rhododendrons, hydrangeas, and native plantings between you and the pool.
